Below is a list of some of the bankruptcy exemptions available to bankruptcy filers in Utah, assuming the person filing qualifies to claim Utah exemptions.  The property listed below is the property a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filer gets to keep.  Any property not exempted is ordinarily turned over to the bankruptcy trustee in a Chapter 7 bankruptcy unless, for example, the trustee abandons the property.  Utah prohibits use of the federal bankruptcy exemptions under 11 U.S.C. § 522(d).  Instead Utahns can select exemptions under Utah law and federal other than 522(d).  The below table of Utah bankruptcy exemptions is current as of January 2011.
